To get into the spirit this year, Goodwill of Southern New England and Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut have teamed up to create a socially distanced Halloween event. From October 9th to November 4th, residents are encouraged to “Haunt Your House,” and bring ghoulish creatures of the night to your home exterior for the chance to win $500.
“We typically see a lot of customers coming into our stores during October for Halloween costumes or ideas and supplies to make their own,” Richard Borer, President of Goodwill of Southern New England said. “With the fate of trick-or-treating largely unknown this year, we wanted to find an equally fun way for people to celebrate Halloween. Goodwill stores are full of items to make this year’s decorations just a little more spooky and exciting!”
“We wanted people to have a fun, safe, and socially distanced way to celebrate Halloween,” Jeff Wieser, President & CEO, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut said. “Whether you engage the whole family in making homemade decorations, use existing decorations, or turn to your local Goodwill store for some upcycled options, this is a great way to showcase your Halloween spirit.”
Entrants can submit two photos of their decorated houses and share your home exterior on social media to encourage more votes. You can vote for your favorite submission by visiting the Facebook pages of Goodwill of Southern New England or Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut. A winner will be announced on November 6, 2020, and awarded the Grand Prize of $500.
Stop by your local Goodwill store to get Halloween costume inspiration and ghoulish decorations for your home.
